Leah Jan Nielson Tingey

July 5, 1958 — March 20, 2016

Our beloved wife and mother, Leah Jan Tingey, age 57 of North Logan, passed through the veil, accompanied by her son Nyals Bodine, on Sunday, March 20, 2016. There is less laughter, music, and brightness in the world because she is gone.
Jan was born to Bob James Nielson and Carol Kay Durrant on July 5, 1958, in Salt Lake City. She grew up in Green River, Utah, where she was involved with cheerleading, band, choir, and graduated as salutatorian at Green River High School. Jan attended college at BYU-Hawaii, BYU, and later finished her elementary education degree at Utah State University.
Jan taught First and Fourth Grade at Lewiston Elementary for 31 years, where she deeply influenced the lives of her schoolchildren and co-workers. She was a kind and gentle teacher and her students loved her. Throughout her time at Lewiston she was blessed with many dear friends who became an important part of her life.
Her larger than life personality, kindness, and total acceptance of others, gave her the ability to make friends from all walks of life. She loved helping others and truly cared for people. Jan had the capability to make people laugh and loved to play pranks all while keeping a straight face.
Along with her love for others, she and Jeff shared their passion for music with thousands of people. They could always be found singing together at many events and venues. Jan and Jeff also enjoyed spending time with their families, friends, and pets, as well as traveling to various parts of the United States with Hawaii being her sanctuary.
She will never be forgotten. Jan’s passing has left a hole in our hearts, but we know she is in a better place and is with two of her children. Jan and Nyals are now reunited with her daughter, Amanda Bodine, who passed away only 13 months earlier. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Bob Nielson and Carol Durrant. She leaves behind the love of her life and husband, Jeff Tingey, and her beautiful daughter, Samantha Leonard Moore (Justin), father Wilford Durrant, her sister Susan (Curt) Dickson, brothers Lee (Angelique) Durrant, Charles (April) Durrant, and Ed (Julie) Durrant, Jeff’s boys Travis (Jen) and Brett (Emily) Tingey and 5 grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Harley and Leisha and friends to numerous to mention.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m held in the North Logan Stake Center, located at 2750 North 800 East, North Logan, Utah.
