While surrounded by family Leah Jane Jorgensen Humphreys, 93 was called home to join her Father in Heaven, family members, and friends on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 from the home of her daughter in Logan, UT.
She was born July 8, 1913 in Logan to Joseph Charles and Jane Ann Reese Jorgensen. Most of her growing years were spent in Benson on the family farm. She loved riding horses and took the cows to and from the pasture. She with her five brothers and one sister were known for their humor and hard work. Through her life she has always enjoyed laughing and giggling with her little sister.
She married Cleon Orvan Humphreys December 1, 1932 in the Logan LDS Temple. They spent most of their married life living and serving in Millville. She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints filling many church positions including Relief Society President and a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Leah also put her time into the work force, spending many years cooking at the Bluebird, Sunshine Terrace and Logan High School. She was known for her one-line bits of advise. She loved poetry, reading and learning. When she was 68 years old she received her High School diploma. This was very important to her.
All who knew her admired her for her wisdom, humor and gentleness. She was always a friend to all she met and spent her life giving service to others. She was without guile, never speaking ill of anyone.
Her love and caring for her family has been the most important thing in her life. She has been a great example of faith, hope and charity to her family. She was the mother of eight children.
Surviving children are: Janet (Gerald, deceased) Bankhead Malta, ID, JC (LaMay) Tabiona, UT, Dale (Christie) Millville UT, Marise, deceased (Harold) Nordick, Millville UT, Bob (Donna Jean) Millville UT, Lynette (Jack, deceased) Edwards Logan UT, Kevin (Lorie) Hyrum, UT. Also surviving are a sister Rachel Harris, Logan, UT, 32 grandchildren, 92 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one daughter, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and five brothers: Milton, Earl, Reese, Elvin and Lenus Jorgensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 3, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. at the Millville 3rd Ward Chapel, 110 South Main, Millville.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening March 2, 2007 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Family and friends may also visit from 11:00 to 11:45 A.M. at the Millville Chapel prior to the funeral.
