Lenis Dora Speas Kirkbride

Lenis Dora Speas Kirkbride passed peacefully August 23, 2023, at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah, at the age of 89.

On December 03, 1933 In Woodville, Idaho, she and her Identical twin, Lena Flora Speas (John) Clark were born to William Speas and Violet Hammer Speas.

Lenis was part two out of them.

After attending schools: Taysom, Blackfoot, Snake River, Midway, Clark and Rigby.  The twins graduated from Ammon High in 1951.

After Lena was married and moved away, Lenis found work in Idaho Falls working for Arvilla “Hessie” Hess as a live-in housekeeper. It was Hessie’s nephew, Frank Kirkbride, that she married in March 1962.

They purchased their forever home at 250 5^th Street Idaho Falls in 1966.  Mom and Dad divorced in 1976 but had 3 children to show for it.

Lenis loved to learn. In 1979 she went on to fuel that passion by obtaining a certificate as a Dental Assistant. She worked for Dr. Haschouer from 1979 through 1983.

She did misc. jobs of housekeeping, being able to pay for her home in 1984. Lenis was so proud of that accomplishment.

Beginning in 2014, David would bring her down to his home in Paradise Utah for the winters. Her house was built in 1925 and was fueled by a coal furnace that had quit working.

Due to the Pandemic along with the age and condition of her home she moved in with David permanently.

She was preceded in death by her parents. her son Wendel. An Infant brother George, older  brother Gene Speas, Sisters Eunice (Heber) Barnard, her beloved twin Lena (John) Clark, and baby sister Thora (Doug) Norman. 

She is survived by her sister Billie Jo (Lynn) Clapp.  Daughter Pam (Clark) Knighton. Son David Kirkbride.  Three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A viewing for our mother, Lenis, will be Saturday September 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with services starting at 12:00 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1^st Ward Church House at 155 East 9400 South, Paradise, Ut.
