Leona Roundy

May 18, 1921 — May 22, 2012

Leona B. Feller Roundy
Our forever loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and
friend, Leona B. Feller Roundy (94) returned peacefully home to her Heavenly
Father to be reunited with her beloved husband, D. Brooks Roundy, whom she
missed dreadfully. He preceded her almost five years ago on July 20, 2007.
Our devoted and cherished mother was born on April 8, 1918, the second
oldest daughter of Samuel E. and Elisabeth Hornickel Feller. Leona grew up
on the family farm in Benson Ward with her four sisters and three brothers.
Mother had a love of animals. She especially loved to ride horses. She spent
much of her time caring for animals.
Leona married Donald Brooks Roundy, a prominent Cache Valley Farmer,
on September 8, 1938, in the Salt Lake Temple. They returned to live on his
beloved Roundy Ranch in Cache Junction, Utah, where Brooks began farm-
ing when he was but a small boy. They lived there happily for almost 70 years,
sharing many ups and downs, and creating many special memories.
Leona was a devote wife who stood beside her husband during those many
years of farming in Cache Junction, Wellsville Canyon and Bear Lake; his
mining summers in Alaska, and fulfilling his numerous Church and temple
callings. She was always a very busy wife and wonderful mother, who was
always there for her four children: Esther Jane (Marion W.) Heaps, Larry
Brooks (Lynn Reese), Ronald Dee (Nancy Sphuler) and Donald Wesley (Jean
Hull).
She enjoyed teaching Jr. Sunday School, 4-H, and the Mia maids and was
in charge of her beloved ward library for over 18 years; spent hundreds of
hours doing family research and genealogy, and creating memorable family
Books of Remembrance. She helped plant, care for and “can” thousands of
bottles of fruits and vegetables.
Leona was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruby (Joe) Mair, Wallace (Nola),
Pearl/Penny (Bud) Guthrie, Dorothy/Dot (Lewis) Dullum, Melvin (RoseMarie),
Kenneth (Nada) Feller.
Leona is survived by her youngest sister Beth and her husband Don, sister-
in-law Rose Marie Feller, and her four children and their spouses, 15 grand-
children and their spouses, 43 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great, grand-
children and also her husband’s three sisters, Mina M. Anderson, Donna
Marchant and Blanche Williams and many nieces and nephews.
Mother spent the last year of her life in her daughter (Esther) and Husband (Marion’s) home in North Salt Lake, Utah. We want to thank them for the great and loving care given to our mother.
We wish to express our thanks to the wonderful medical staff of Haven Home
Care for their kind and loving care of our mother during her last month with us.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 in the Newton Cemetery.
