Lida Laverne Smuin

Lida LaVerne Smuin passed through the veil on March 3, 2009.
LaVerne was borne July 21, 1920 and lived a very full and active 88 years despite suffering for many years with severe Rheumatoid arthritis.
LaVerne and John Albert Smuin were married on March 22, 1937. Albert passed away on June 16, 1992. They had two daughters, La Rue Allen who passed away in 1995, and Ruth Allen who with her husband, Larry Allen, have been taking care of Mom for many years.
La Verne loved the Lord and her church work and her family. Many family members have received lovely handcrafted tokens of her affection through the years and have valued associating with her. She has been a tower of strength through her trials in life and will be remembered as a light of hope and courage.
LaVerne leaves a heritage to be proud of. She is survived by 12 grandchildren, one preceded her in death, 40great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Her little doggie companion, Katie, was with her constantly and was a comfort in her later years.
There will be a funeral on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome. A special graveside service will follow.
