Lillian Low Rigby

Lillian Low Rigby passed away on December 6, 2016 in Logan, Utah at age 95 from causes incident to age. Lillian was born March 31, 1921, in Smithfield, Utah to Leo Osborn Low and Eliza Ellen Bingham Low. She was raised in a loving home along with three brothers, Sylvester Clinton, Leo Grady, and Oliver Dick. As she grew she was a joy to family and friends. She enjoyed ice skating, softball, fishing, and was involved in many extracurricular school activities, including being crowned Queen of Smithfield Health Days in 1938. She graduated from North Cache High School where she had met Val Edward Rigby. They were married on July 30, 1940, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Lewiston, Utah where they were blessed with four children, Ed Rigby (Kathy), Ellen Rigby Garvin (Paul), Janet Rigby Price (Doug), and Os Rigby (Cindy). She has 11 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Lillian was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers.
Lillian’s life was one of service to family, friends, her church and her community. She served in many capacities in the LDS church as a member of the Lewiston 2nd Ward. Every auxiliary benefitted from her organizational skills, loving care, and deep devotion. She also served with her husband as a temple worker in the Logan LDS temple for 10 years.
Lillian had the opportunity to work at Utah State University in the Office of the Registrar for 24 years where she enjoyed serving many colleagues, faculty and students.
Lillian had many talents, among them her beautiful handiwork and wonderful cooking. Each of her granddaughters has received a Grandma quilt which they cherish. Her work was beautiful with fine stitches, each fabric being chosen carefully and each quilt being stitched with lots of love. She also crotchet lovely afghans and baby shawls for family and friends. She was a talented seamstress, winning prizes at the fair and creating many of her daughters’ clothes. Lillian was well-known as an excellent cook. A container of her peanut brittle was a prized gift for family and friends at Christmas time. She also excelled at making cinnamon rolls and raisin-filled cookies.
She cherished the rich relationships she had with numerous friends. Shared experiences of laughter, travel, work, service and love enriched her life. She holds a special place in the hearts of all her family. She took time with each one and in her quiet way taught many of life’s lessons.
Her family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Legacy House and the nurses at Access Hospice for their excellent care.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday December 10th, 2016 in the Lewiston 2nd Ward Chapel, 10 South 1600 West in Lewiston, Utah. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church in Lewiston and prior to the services on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., also at the church. Burial will be in the Lewiston City Cemetery.
