Linda was born on March 4, 1943 in Logan, Utah to Lorenzo Funk Hansen and Elma Johnson Hansen. She grew up in Logan with an older sister, Marie. Linda attended Logan public schools and graduated from Logan High in 1961. She then attended Utah State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1965.
Linda married Kenneth Arnold Finchum on July 22, 1964 in the Logan LDS Temple. After graduation, Linda began teaching school in Franklin Elementary School in West Salt Lake City. She taught fifth grade and a combination fifth and sixth grade class. Linda was the music specialist for the whole school and held the first Christmas pageant ever at the school.

Linda worked for Utah State University in a variety of positions for the next several decades. She began work as a laboratory technician in an ecology lab and quickly rose to supervising projects and editing grant proposals. Linda also served as a substitute “mom” to many PhD students who were studying under James McMahon.
In later years, Linda was on the staff of the College of Science and then worked closely with the Development Director at Utah State. She retired in 2000 and then worked alongside Ken in their needlework store, Only By Hand, in Logan. Linda also applied her skills to editing and proofreading needlework patterns for various designers.
Ken and Linda moved to Kaysville in 2003 after selling their business. They spent a lot of time with their grandchildren and working in church callings. They served an LDS mission for four years at the Kaysville Mill. Ken and Linda enjoyed their time organizing volunteer workers and working alongside them.
In 2020, Linda suffered some health difficulties and entered rehab at Rocky Mountain care followed by a move to Chancellor Gardens memory care unit. She had round-the-clock care provided by a supportive and caring staff. The family truly appreciated the dedicated caregivers who took such good care of her.
Linda is survived by two daughters: Carrie Quesnell (Mike) and Melissa Finchum; four grandchildren: Megan Jones (Sean), Dana Olson, Aaron Quesnell, and Nick Quesnell; and two great-granddaughters: Eleanor and Austyn Jones.
