Linda Diane Mendenhall

Linda Diane Hobson Mendenhall passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, Saturday December 12, 2015, at home in Providence, Utah. Linda was born to John Ralph Hobson and Juanita June Bennett on October 14, 1945 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. She attended grade schools and high school at Pocatello, Idaho. Linda continued her education at Idaho State University Graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Linda loved being a nurse, she enjoyed her nursing work for 43+ years as an emergency room nurse, home health, and hospice nurse in many hospitals throughout the Country. Linda found her niche in nursing as Director of Nurses in home health and hospice, having a deep love and concern for her patients, always being a guardian angel for their care and well-being. She volunteered for American Red Cross Blood Bank and Special Olympics for many years. Linda married Clair Mendenhall on August 8, 1969 in Honolulu, Hawaii. This began her travels throughout the Northwest, Southwest, and the South. While living in Alabama and Florida she fell in love the beach life. They were sealed in the Atlanta Temple on January 22, 1991. Linda and Clair became the parents of two children, Michael Shane and Kari Ann. Linda loved being involved with her children and their activities. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many callings with the Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, and Sunday School. Linda loved each and every calling she received, but her favorite calling was teaching early morning Seminary in Southeastern Alabama. Linda loved the annual May brunch, in Pocatello, with her mother and the trips to McCall, Idaho to be with her bridge buddies and friends of “Brownie Troop 99” and what great memories she cherished with this group of friends. She was a wonderful loving Mother, Grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She always enjoyed the time with her children and later on with the six grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, craft activities, camping, and traveling to the Oregon Coast where she enjoyed the friendship of her Oregon Bunko friends.
She is survived by her husband Clair Mendenhall of Providence, Utah; Son Michael Shane (Sara) of Obermohr, Germany; Daughter Kari Ann (Casey) of River Heights, Utah. Her six grandchildren; Elder Andrew Mendenhall serving a mission in Cordoba, Argentina, Owen and Noah Mendenhall of Obermohr, Germany. Avyn, Rhys, and Ivy Gore of River Heights, Utah. Also survived by her brothers Robert Hobson of Eagle River, Alaska and Brett Hobson of Chubbuck, Idaho. Her parents Dr. John Ralph, Juanita Bennett Hobson and a sister Susan Hansen, preceded her in death. The family would like to express their gratitude for all the kind and loving care provided by Dr. Jonathan Whisenant and the Utah Cancer Center staff in Salt Lake City; along with all the dear neighbors and friends in the Cobblestone 1st Ward who so lovingly shared their time and resources in caring for Linda. She would also like to thank the Access Hospice Team for their professional care and concern for her comfort and well-being.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18th at the Cobblestone 1st Ward Chapel, 420 West 100 North in Providence, Utah with Bishop Tom Dye officiating. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St in Logan and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church Friday prior to the funeral.
