Lloyd Harris Elwood, 98, passed away on Oct. 25, 2013, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Lewiston, Utah.
Lloyd was born on Dec. 15, 1914 in Fairview, Idaho, to Herbert and Elvira Elwood. He was the 3rd of 13 children. When he was 5 years old his family moved to Lewiston, Ut. Lloyd spent the rest of his life on a farm in Lewiston, working as a farm helper in his youth, and later running his own farm. He attended Stephenson School through grade 8, and graduated from North Cache High School.
Lloyd married Elva Christina Jepsen on June 4, 1937,in the Logan LDS Temple and they moved into the home where they lived their entire life and raised 4 children, creating a loving atmosphere for their eternal family.
In addition to farming, Lloyd hauled milk to the Sego Milk Plant, and worked a few years at the Del Monte Plant and Amalgamated Sugar Factory. Throughout Cache Valley and beyond Lloyd was respected for his integrity, gentle wisdom and kindness. He served on the Lewiston City Council and helped his community in numerous ways. As an active member of the LDS Church , Lloyd held many positions of responsibility, including serving on the High Council and serving with his wife as officiators in the Logan Temple for 20 years.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, parents, one son , Gale Elwood, two grandchildren, Bradley Hall and Carrie Sue Hall, five brothers, Arthur, James, Vernon, Parley and Steve Elwood, and five sisters, Wilda and Pearl Elwood, Leora Cunningham, Vilate Eames and Grace Didericksen. He is survived by three children, Carlos (Maureen) Elwood, Diane (Evan) Hall, and Kelly Elwood, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Dorothy Burbank, and Della Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 12;00 Noon on Tuesday October 29, 2013 at the Lewiston 1st/2nd Ward Chapel, 1600 West Center., Lewiston, Utah.
The family will meet with friends and relatives on Monday evening from 6 to 8pm at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 E. 1800 N., North Logan, and Tuesday morning at the ward from 10:30am till 11:30am.
He will be laid to rest at the Fairview, Idaho Cemetery.
