Lloyd Nielsen Bradshaw

April 25, 1924 — January 27, 2010

Lloyd N. Bradshaw, known as ‘Pud’ to many who knew him, passed away at the home of his daughter on Janurary 27 at age 85. He was born to James Barnes and Valene Nielsen Bradshaw on April 25,1924 in Wellsville Utah. He loved everything about his hometown; the surrounding mountains, his life long friends and his eternal companion Dorothy Hubbard, who he met there and married in the Logan Temple on March 31, 1954. While in Wellsville they raised five children, Monte (Kathy), Providence; Jill Jensen (Doug), River Heights; Kristine Larsen (Wayne), Centerville; Rick, Orem and Shelly Rosier (Ron), Centerville.

Lloyd found joy in the simple things of life; farming, sporting events, ice cream, and family. Clearly his greatest joy came from his association with others whose names were always safe in his home. He was a friend to all.

Service began early in his life when he joined the Navy and, along with his brothers, became part of the dedicated generation of young men who served their country during World War II. Upon his return home he desired to share his witness of the Restored Gospel with others and was called to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Johannesburg, South Africa. The remainder of his life was spent serving his family and those he loved in various callings within the church. The capstone being a second mission with his wife to Nauvoo Illinois in 1997.

Lloyd taught his children the value of hard work. Besides his daily employment at Bott Monument in Brigham, he raised cattle, gardened and was always working on the next home project. He and Dorothy moved to River Heights in 1993 to increase their work in the Logan Temple. While retired, he found great joy not only in Temple work but also in custodial work a few hours each day at River Heights Elementary. He was blessed while in River Heights to have great neighbors and looked forward to Home Teaching each month.

He is survived by his children, eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and sister LaWana Pederson (Victor). Was Preceeded in death by his wife, parents and brothers, Clair, Lynn and Bart Bradshaw.

The family would like to thank Country Care in Farmington for making the last 3 years of his life so comfortable. In his words, “I love it here.” Also Legacy Hospice for their dedicated care and love.

Funeral Services will be held Monday February 1, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the LDS Chapel, 83 W 200 South, Wellsville, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street in Logan and Monday from 10:30-11:45 at the church prior to the services.
