Lois K. Layne, 84 and lifetime resident of Cache Valley died 31 July 2006 at her home in Logan. Lois was born 8 Oct 1921 in Mendon, daughter of Gwen Dolan Hardman and Lucile Bird. On 8 March 1948, she married Norval Robert Kidman. Following his death from cancer on 29 November 1974, she married Raymond (Bob) Layne on 22 August 1977.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Layne; sister, LaDonna Plowman; daughters, Sharon Kidman and JoLene Wheeler and son, Stan Kidman; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Bob and Lois had a combined family, totaling 10 children, 27 grandchildren, 28 Great grandchildren and 4 Great-Great grandchild. Bob’s children are JoAnne Layne, Bob Raymond Layne who lost his life in the Viet Nam war, Darlene Krauter, Dennis Layne, Farrell Layne and Ellis Layne.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 26 years, Norval Kidman; brothers, Russell and Dean Hardman; sister, Valerie Burnett and son, Farrell Kidman.

Lois worked at J.C. Penny Co, Cook Transportation and for Cache County as Deputy Assessor. She loved square dancing and started the line dancing program at the Senior Citizen’s Centers in Logan in 1995. She enjoyed pinnacle, ceramics, crocheting and being with her family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 4 August 2006, 12:00 PM, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., with a closed casket visitation from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Mendon Cemetery.
