LOGAN, UTAH--Lorin Pack Howard, 98, died Sunday April 5, 2009 at the Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah of complications associated with age.
Lorin was born of firm traditional LDS parentage and pioneer heritage in Byron, Big Horn, Wyoming on May 18, 1910, the youngest of five children of Thomas Joseph Howard and Hattie Pack Howard, all deceased. He was raised in Malad, Idaho on a dry farm, spent his adult life in Logan and Southern California, working as a General Construction Contractor and as a project manager for Sav-On Drugs. He was known as a master builder.
He attended Utah State Agricultural College (USU) as a young man and served during World War II in the U.S. Army Aviation Engineers Battalion (Pacific Theatre). He served his Church on two missions, one in the Northwestern States and then in New York City with his wife Lula.
Lorin and Lula were married June 26, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. They have celebrated nearly 68 years of marriage, separated only by three years during World War II. Lorin served as a temple ordinance worker, sealer, Bishop of the Logan 3rd Ward and Counselor in the Inglewood, California Stake Presidency.
Survivors include his dear wife and companion Lula Andrews Howard, daughter Kathylene Jenson (Glen), sons Thomas Lorin Howard (Sylvia Morrell), John Paul Howard (Marianne Smith), and a daughter Jan Louise Howard, 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Logan 18th Ward Chapel, 502 East 300 North, Logan, Utah, and a viewing will precede the services at the church from 10:00-11:30 AM. Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
