Harold Louis Fornoff was born May 30 1925 in Logan, Utah to Harold and Ruth Fornoff. Lou was the only boy with two sisters, Joyce and carol.
Lou attended Logan city schools and graduated from Logan High in 1943. After graduation Lou enlisted in the army as an infantryman. During his active duty Lou was stationed in Europe, he received a bronze star. After serving his regular duty he left the army and enrolled at USU where he graduated in 1950. After he received his degree he was commissioned in the Army Reserve where he achieved the rank of Major. He served in the Reserve until his retirement.
In 2017, Lou was honored for his military service by taking the Honor Flight to Washington DC, with his son-in-law, John Bishop, a time that Lou cherished.
Lou married Alene Stone in Ogden, Utah and from this union came three children. That marriage ended in divorce. Lou eventually met a pretty high school class mate that had been widowed, and after a courtship, he married Shirley Larsen Fuhriman on January 26, 1985. From this marriage he gained four more children. After his retirement, Lou and Shirley lived in Salt Lake City
Music always played an important part in Lou’s life. He worked in the family business growing up an eventually ran Fornoff Music until his retirement. After retirement Lou still traveled tuning pianos for the clients/friends that he made during his years in business.
Lou was an accomplished accordion player for most of his life and was admired throughout the inter mountain west for his ability to play and repair the instrument that he loved.
Lou passed away on Friday August 16, 2019 at Maple Springs Assisted Living in Brigham City. He was preceded in death by is mother and father and his two sisters, Joyce Weston and Carol Fornoff He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his children Karen (John) Bishop, Cathy (Steve) Jensen, Kristine (Rex) Gleason, Cydne Wyatt, and Brett Fuhriman,
He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maple Springs Assisted Living and Bristol Hospice and a special thank you to Dixie for her loving care for Lou.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the Logan City Cemetery.
