Louis Fellger Johnson

June 7, 1938 — November 25, 2007

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Bend, Oregon: Louis passed away November 25, 2007 at the age of 69. He was born on June 7, 1938 in Logan, Utah, and later moved to Southern California (Granada Hills) in 1969. In November 2003, Lou & Donna moved to Bend, Oregon to enjoy retirement with their friends and family. Louis was married to Donna, his Valentine Sweetheart for the past 37 years.
Louis is survived by his wife Donna, his 5 children: Judy Ely (Brett), Jeff Johnson, Jill Conover (Mike) all of Torrance, California, and Kathy Gillispie (Kyle), and Vicki Johnson both residing in Bend, Oregon. Matt and Krystal Conover (Jill) and Breana Ely (Judy) of Torrance, California will sorely miss their grandpa Lou. He is also survived by his oldest sister Luana Davis (Lynn) and brother Felger Johnson of Logan, Utah as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Uben and Louise Johnson and his brother Elmer Johnson. Louis will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
For those of you who knew Lou best you know what a large hole he has left that will never be filled. He was a dedicated family man, who LOVED life and LIVED it to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman and treasure hunter, chasing the treasures of Jesse James through Utah, Nevada & Arizona as well as Spanish gold in California.
His career as a mechanical engineer was full of stellar accomplishments. At Hughes Helicopters, Lou was a primary designer of the heat seeking turret gun on the first generation Apache Helicopter. He followed that up with an in-line comminutor that was used on most of the aircraft carriers and destroyers throughout the 80’s and 90’s.
As for retirement, Lou would have none of that. He has spent the last couple of years fishing, swimming and spending as much time with his family as possible. In fact, his last vacation was at Shaver Lake where he was able to spend his days being doted on by 3 of his daughters, his son, all his grandchildren and sons-in-law.
And in true form he spent his final hours in the hospital coming up with a design to attach the TV remote to the bed. Always thinking, always designing, always engineering, that was our dad.
“Thanks for all the wonderful memories Dad. You were our rock, our inspiration, and we will strive to live the family you envisioned.”
There will be a “Celebration of Life” gathering in Bend, Oregon at the family home on November 29th, at 2:30 pm. Louis will return home to his final resting place in Logan, Utah.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 12:00 PM in the Allen–Hall Mortuary Chapel. A visitation will be held prior to services from 11:00 to 11:45 AM. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
