Lovena “Lovey” Rowley Braegger of Logan, Utah passed away on August 20, 2023, at the age of 93. Lovey was born on November 15, 1929, in Orem, Utah to David Lyman Rowley and Clara Luella Steiner. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 7 siblings, as well as by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Dean Lester and their son, and her son-in-law, Bob Wright. Lovey is survived by her husband, Arvel “Buzz” Braegger, her children, Mike (Karen) Braegger, Linda Wright, Marsha (Carl J) Lym, 13 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
Lovey and Buzz were married in the Logan Utah temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 27, 1952. Lovey’s life was dedicated to the care and support of her family. Having lost Sandy and Dean at too young an age, she would say that losing a child was the worse pain a mother could feel. Lovey was an accomplished seamstress, learning to sew at the age of 4 on a treadle sewing machine. She volunteered her time and talent to the Martin Harris Pageant in Clarkston, Utah for 20 years, creating and maintaining costumes. Lovey also provided her services to the drama department at Utah State University for about 25 years. She shared her talent with friends, neighbors, and family members. Lovey was often heard saying, “if you can make a picture, I can make a pattern”. She was known to create prom dresses and wedding dresses for her grandchildren, able to take any envisioned article and turn it into a reality like a fairy god mother.
Lovey was ever hardworking; she would help family members with large yard work projects and was able to easily outwork her younger relatives. Everyone would be tired, sitting for a rest, and there was Lovey, still working hard and announcing there was still work to be done. If anyone was in need, all they need do was ask Lovey for help and she would give anything she could to take care of those around her.
After 71 years of marriage, Lovey and Buzz were still happily married. Watching Lovey fade the last year has been difficult for family members, but by far the hardest on Buzz. Lovey is now at peace but will be missed dearly by those she left behind.
