Lucile Allen Cartwright passed away peacefully on June 7, 2015 in Logan, Utah. Born on June 21, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the second of six children born to Edwin and Dessie Allen.
Lucile was raised in Fresno, California and there met her eternal husband, William (Bill). At the end of WWII, Lucile and Bill were married in Bill’s home town of Logan and their union solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1945. Lucile and Bill settled in California where Lucile worked as a homemaker and also ran a successful small business in Sacramento. They lived there 38 years, had two sons, and returned to Logan after they retired in 1986.
Lucile was very talented in the arts. After graduation, she developed her skills in knitting, monogramming, and oil painting. Later, she used those skills to own and operate Sacramento’s premiere Yarn and Monograming shop. Among her family and friends she was affectionately known as “the pink lady” since most of her paintings and knitted clothes were fashioned in the color pink. Laughter was her best medicine and her sense of humor was always witty and full of charm.
She is survived by her two sons, William Burke and wife Stephanie, Craig Alan and wife Joan, her sister Jeanne Clawson, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Dessie, husband Bill, sisters Maxine and Marjorie, and brothers Thomas and Jack.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11 a.m.. in the North Logan 5th Ward LDS meetinghouse, 2750 N 800 E, North Logan. A viewing will precede the funeral services at 10:00 a.m. for family and friends. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery following the services.
