Alvina LuDean Pehrson McLain passed away on November 29 from complications due to pneumonia. She as 93.
Dean was born in Logan, Utah on July 13, 1922 to William Edwin Pehrson and Laura Alvina McAllister Pehrson.
She graduated from Logan High School in 1940. During World War II, she worked for three years at the Quartermaster's Depot in Ogden, Utah.
In 1947, Dean married Gene A. McLain and in 1950 moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She lived and worked there for 30 years. In 1977, Dean returned to Logan. She retired from ZCMI in 1998 after working there for 21 years. That same year, she moved to Salt Lake City where she lived until her death.
She is survived by her brother Edwin (Lou) Pehrson and sister Laura Fornesbecks, three grandchildren, Lisa (Bob) Peterson, Matt (Amy) McLain, and Katie McLain, four great-grandchildren, Holli (Caleb) Sharp, Kristin (Daniel) Jones, Adriann (Sean) Michials, and Alysa Peterson, and two great-great grandchildren, Achaia and Kyna Sharp.
Dean is preceded in death by her husband Gene, her father William, her mother Alvina, her son John Kay and her sister Myrtle Dixon.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 7th at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan. A visitation will be held from 10-10:30 am prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at
