Lula Andrews Howard, age 93, died April 7, 2010 at her home in Logan, Utah. Lula was born February 7, 1917, in Logan, Utah, the youngest of five children of William Reese Andrews and Harriet Louise King Andrews. Lula was raised on her father’s farm and learned the value of hard work.
Lula graduated from Logan High School and attended Utah State Agriculture College. She loved to give readings and gave several throughout the community.
Lula married Lorin P. Howard June 26, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple and celebrated nearly 68 years of marriage, separated only by three years during World War II. While Lorin was in the military, Lula returned to live with her parents. Lorin’s military pay was misplaced for six months and she worked at a variety of jobs to earn sufficient income.
Her adult life was split between Logan and Los Angeles, California. She dearly loved living in California. Lula loved to cook and was a gourmet cook and hostess at many social functions. She was an expert seamstress of which her family were the benefactors. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many leadership positions. She served two LDS missions with her husband; one to the New York City Visitors Center and one at the LDS Church Employment Office. She officiated in the Logan and Los Angeles Temples for many years. She spent her life serving others. Family was most important and she felt family is everything.
Life was never quite the same after her dear husband passed away April 5, 2009. Her zest for life dimmed.
Survivors include her four children, Kathylene Jenson (Glen), Thomas Lorin Howard (Sylvia Morrell), John Paul Howard (Marianne Smith), and Jan Louise Howard, 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the Intermountain Homecare and Hospice Team for their skilled and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan, Utah. A viewing will precede the services from 10:00-12:00. Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery.
