Lyle (Bert) Smith, 87, of Roy, died Sunday, June 18, 2011. Bert was born October 13, 1923 to Lyle and Ella Smith of Nibley, Utah. He grew up and was educated in Cache Valley. He married Moselle Norris in 1941. They were later divorced. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-46. After an honorable discharge he became a successful General Contractor. One of his greatest accomplishments as a contractor was to construct and move the first U.S. Post Office in a cargo plane to Point Barrow, Alaska.
He is survived by his children Sheila Malone of Roy, Ut, Ronda Needham of Nibley, Ut, Trudy (LaMar) Ricks of Millville, Ut, Tracy (Tami) Smith of Warren, Ut, Tina (Bret) Davis of Wellsville, Ut; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister JoAnn Cammack of Paradise, Ut and loving girlfriend of 15 years Helen Stewart of Clinton, Ut.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Erma, Blanch, and Sharlene.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan. Family will greet friends from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Thursday before services. Interment will be at Millville Cemetery, Millville, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at
