LOGAN – Lynn V. Nielsen, 85, passed away on July 30, 2010.
Born on April 19, 1925 in College Ward, Utah to Nephi and Evelyn Nielsen. He graduated from South Cache High where he was active in football, tennis and track. He and his team won the National High School track Medley Relay in 1944. After graduating he served in the Navy for two years during World War II in the south pacific.
He married Bernice Christiansen on October 3, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three sons and a daughter.
He was a hard worker all his life. He retired from the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City where he was a baker for 25 years. During the summers he worked for LeGrande Johnson Construction. In his free time he was always working on his farm. Some of his favorite hobbies were raising cattle and going four-wheeling. On Thursdays you could always find him at the Smithfield Livestock Auction.
Survived by wife Bernice Nielsen; sons, David Nielsen (Deb Wood) of Hyde Park, Utah, Jason Nielsen (Sherie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Glee Pulley (Barry) of St. Peters, Missouri; daughter in law Cindy Nielsen Rodgers sister, Joyce Nielsen (Paul) of Hyrum, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceeded in death by a son, Troy Nielsen of College Ward brothers Wendell, Bob, Acel, Darrell and sister Carma.
Funeral services will be held Thursday
August 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at College-Young Ward Church House. Friends may call Wednesday evening at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and again at the College-Young Ward Church one hour prior to service.
