Marcella Bower was born in Spokane, Washington on June 15, 1920. She married Howard A. Chiavaras on her 21st birthday in Burbank, California. After World War II they moved to Azalea, Oregon where they raised their two sons, Ross and David. Marcella taught school in Canyonville, Oregon and eventually became an elementary school principal.
Marcella moved to the Logan area in May of 2011 to be closer to family. She was a resident of Cache Valley Assisted Living’s Memory Care Unit in Providence where she received wonderful care from all the staff. They have come to be like family to her.
Marcella’s family would like to thank everyone at Cache Valley Assisted Living and the amazing people we have come to know from Encompass Hospice (formerly Alpine Hospice). Words are not enough to express our gratitude to the Hospice staff. They made this journey with us and eased the way for Marcella and her family.
Services and burial will be held in Roseburg, Oregon later this month. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net
