Marcia Cheney

October 30, 1973 — September 7, 2011

Marcia Cheney, 37, passed away on September 7, 2011 at the University of Utah hospital after a sudden illness. Marcia was born on October 30, 1973. She was the youngest of 4 children. She grew up in Hyde Park. She graduated, with honors, from Sky View High School in 1992. She was active in Band, Colorguard, Front Porch Majority and Seminary Counsel. She continued her education at Ricks College, where she received her Associate’s degree. She served an LDS mission to Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. She received her BA degree from Utah State University in Elementary Education. She continued on to earn two Master’s degrees; one from Utah State University in Instructional Technology and one in Library Science from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She was currently working as the Director of the North Logan City Library.
She is survived by her parents, David and Ann Cheney of Hyde Park; sister, Sherrie, Providence; brother, Dale (Chantele), Dayton, ID; a sister-in-law, Lynnette (Randy) Haltiner, Millville; nieces and nephews, Jocelyn (currently serving in the Texas Houston East Spanish speaking mission), Stephanie (Jake) Jensen, Natalie, Kristen, Angela and Aaron Cheney; Mykel and Anna Hooley, Geoffrey, Amy, Brittany and David Cheney, Justin, Morgan, Chalene and Tyler; a special aunt, Joyce Dutson of MN, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her big brother, Mark, who welcomed her home when she left us and both sets of grandparents.
Marcia is loved by us all and will be greatly missed! In lieu of flowers, the North Logan City Library is accepting donations for the Marcia Cheney Book Memorial.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, at the Hyde Park Stake Center, 535 East 200 South in Hyde Park. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 11, at Allen Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, in North Logan, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church Monday. Interment will be in the Hyde Park City Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net
