Marcus Gordon Otte

RICHMOND, UTAH: Marcus Gordon Otte (Gordon), passed
away in Quincy, California on February 29, 2006,
nearly 82 years old.

Gordon was born on March 17, 1924 in the tiny rural
town of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and spent his youth there.
He served as a Flight Navigator in the Army Air Corps
from 1943 to 1945. He moved to Cache Valley in 1949
to work at The Pet Milk Company in Richmond - his
first job after completing his Bachelor's Degree in
Dairy Engineering at the University of Nebraska. In
Richmond he met the woman who would be his wife until
his death, Wanda Spackman. They married in 1950 and
moved to California, first to Salinas, later to
Concord and Fresno, finally settling in the San
Francisco Bay Area. They lived at their home at 910
Hohener Avenue in Hayward, California for over 35
years.

In spite of all those years in California, Wanda and
Gordon always referred to Richmond as "home". Upon
Gordon's retirement in 1988 they made the move back to
Utah, where they were lucky to find a lovely house on
Main Street in Richmond, previously owned by Wanda's
Aunt Marth. There they were happy to be near Wanda's
sister Betty Hendricks and her family, and they
enjoyed sitting on their porch, waving at passersby
and talking to neighborhood kids. Failing health lead
to the decision to move once again in 1999, this time
to Loyalton, California, to be closer to their
children in Northern California.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Marcus G.
Otte and Loretta Prinz Otte, and his only brother
Robert C. Otte.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Otte and children
Martha Jane Otte, Terence Gordon Otte, and Cynthia
Marie Korkeila.

Services will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in
Logan on Saturday March 4 at 11 a.m., followed by
internment at Richmond City Cemetery. Viewing at 10
a.m. the same day, until time of services. Condolences
