There was a grand reunion in Heaven on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, when Margaret Ann Barrett Cooper was at last able to join her husband, her father and mother and beloved older sister and youngest brother. Mom has looked forward to this reunion for a long time.
Margaret Ann Barrett was born on March 28, 1923 in Logan, Utah. She was the second child of Golden Wesley and Barbara Irene Lewis Barrett. She grew up in Benson, Utah, and attended school there. When WWII was heating up, her family, now consisting of 6 children, moved to Southern California where her father worked in the aircraft industry. Margaret also worked at Douglas Aircraft when she was old enough and it was there she met a young Texan, Leon Stewart Cooper, Jr. They dated and fell in love and married on February 7, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized June 23, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. Dad passed away in May of 1991. She leaves 4 children: Margaret Irene Cooper of Logan; Daniel Craig (Debbie Clark) Cooper of Clarkston; Mary Melinda Cooper (John) Zamzow of Reno, Nevada; Joseph Barrett (Miriam Easley) Cooper of Clearfield, Utah. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many positions throughout her life. She loved the Savior and loved the scriptures.
Mom loved gardening and while she was able, she kept a lovely yard. She also enjoyed all kinds of puzzles and playing Scrabble with her brother, Wes, and sister, Lillian. She also loved to walk and could be seen walking from Smithfield to Logan on many occasions.
Margaret is survived by her four children; sisters, Theda Barret (Vernon) Stanley of Santa Rosa, CA, and Lillian Barrett (Jack) Kidd of Logan, Utah. Brother, Golden Wesley (Bebecca Burns) Barrett of Seal Beach, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, one sister, Irene Barrett (Paul) Hower, formerly of San Diego, California; one brother, Chester Lewis (Lucia Rayburn) Barrett, formerly of Cypress, California.
The family wishes to thank Dr Vera Carlson for her compassionate care, as well as the staff at Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for taking care of Mom in her last months.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Margaret’s name.
