Margaret Bowling Wilson Macdonald

Margaret Macdonald, 81 passed away Dec 31,2006 in Logan, Utah following an extended illness. She was born Jun 23, 1925 in St. Bernice, Indiana, the second of five children to Brownie Allen Wilson and Ethel Marie Bowling growing up in the time of the great depression. During World War II she worked as a welder in defense plants. Following the war, she attended nurses training in Paris, Illinois then settled briefly in Chicago as a registered nurse. In 1951 she answered a classified add in a nurse's journal for a position in a hospital named Hotel Dieu in El Paso, Tx. Having never heard of El Paso, Tx, she boarded a bus to take the job. In Feb of 1952, she met Ross Macdonald on a blind date, a sailor recently returned from Korea with hopes of entering the cattle business. They married May 31, 1952 and raised three children as well as became guardians of two of her nieces. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she donated freely of her time and talents during her lifetime. She was the person on whom anyone in need could call. Her nurses training never left her even to the point of delivering the child of close friend in 1974 when no other alternative was available. She is survived by her husband: Ross Macdonald of Logan, Ut, Children: Kay Macdonald of San Antonio, Tx; Byron and Gina Macdonald of Valencia, Ca; Kenneth and Tammy Macdonald of Newton, Ut.,Marie ( Bill) Cardon of Arlington,Tx.,Vivian (John) Thielke of Arlington,Tx., Sister: Phyllis Jenkins of Indianapolis, In. and Brother: Robert Allen Wilson also of Indianapolis, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services are scheduled to be held in El Paso,Texas at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell,8817 Dyer st., with graveside service at Rest Lawn on January 13,2007.
