Margaret Ellen Christiansen

Margaret Ellen Schiess was born December 1, 1914 in Providence, Utah to John K. Schiess and Katherine Gessel the youngest of eight children. She lived in Providence until 1936 when she moved to Hood River, Oregon where on May 11, 1936 she married Elroy Bradley Christiansen her fiancé from Utah who had moved to Hood River to take a job on the Mount Hood Railroad. The Christiansen’s made their home in Parkdale, Oregon where they lived from 1938 until the death of Elroy in 1986. Shortly thereafter, Margaret sold the Parkdale farm and moved to Canby, Oregon where she lived until her death on Oct 6, 2006. Margaret is survived by Laura Marie Winterton, of West Valley City, Utah; Elroy Gene Christiansen, of Largo Maryland; Mardeen Hultgren, of Canby, Oregon; Jerald Kay Christiansen, of Grass Valley, Oregon; 29 grandchildren; and 59 great grandchildren. Margaret will long be remembered for her selfless service to family and community as well as the beauty of her flowers. The funeral will be held in Canby, Oregon at 11:00 AM on Oct.10, 2006 followed by interment in Hyrum, Utah at 12:00 noon on Oct 12, 2006.
