Logan, Utah: Margaret Wilcox Bosch was born December 23, 1925 in Heyburn, Idaho to Sarah (Hanks) Wilcox and Paul Wilcox. She was raised with her sister and four brothers on the family farm. She graduated from Heyburn High School. Margaret passed away June 7, 2010.
She met and married the love of her life, Henry Peter Bosch. They moved to Richland, Washington where they made their home and raised a family of 7 children, including a set of twins and one foster child (Sandy Sanderlin).
Margaret loved music and it was a motivating part of her life. She sang frequently for many functions, including community events and church meetings. She was a long time member of the Joyful Blenders and the Towne Singers. She put together and directed many choral groups and choirs.
She played the piano by ear. She could hear a song once or twice and could create it at the piano with no music in front of her. She knew thousands of songs and shared that knowledge with others.
Margaret was widowed at a young age and left with five teenagers at home to provide and care for. Never one to back away from a challenge, she tackled her future by moving her children to Utah to start a new life in a new place with a new career. Each success brought new opportunities for her and her family.
Margaret was exceptionally creative in many ways. She could always find a way to make her ideas become reality. Her skills as a seamstress were well known. She contracted out her sewing skills to supplement her income while putting her son and daughter on missions for the LDS church. She sewed for many people out of the joy of service, making everything from tablecloths to wedding dresses. After her children returned from their service as missionaries, she continued to help support other missionaries in her wards. She contributed to the missionary program for many decades after her own missionaries were home.
Her talent with needlework also included many kinds of embroidery, including Brazilian embroidery. She taught classes in this fine art and her artwork enriched the lives and homes of so many that she freely shared with.
Margaret was passionate about life. She loved books, poetry, and collecting quotes as well as writing her own memoirs. Throughout the many challenges in her life, she was never apathetic about anything. She accepted her challenges with a “can do” attitude and with grace.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served diligently in the many callings extended to her over the years including serving in the primary as a great grandmother. She loved the scriptures and shared her testimony in her works and in her word. Her favorite calling was working at the Logan Temple.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sarah Wilcox, her sister Ruth Heiner, brothers Glade, LaVar, and Wilford, her beloved Henry, her daughters, Merry and Renee, son, Paul, daughter in law, Beverly, and son in law, Jim Downs. She is survived by her son, Gerald H., daughters, Jackie (Mike) Rossetti, Valerie (Jim) Downs, Amy (Jeff) Staples, daughter in law, Alyce (Paul) Bosch, brother, Howard Wilcox. She also leaves behind a great number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Her trials in the last few years were great but she faced them with courage and faith. Margaret’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and family of Terrace Grove and Sunshine Terrace who encompassed her with care and compassion to her last breath.
One of her children penned these words to describe her as a mother:
I remember coming home
to the smell of home baked bread
and the notes of your voice
bouncing around the house.
Two memories the say it all
made fresh with love
and blessed with the sweetness of song.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family at
