Her whole life was dedicated to service starting as a young nurse working in a leper colony in the 1930's to large hospitals and clinics in Torreon and Monterrey, Mexico. Working as a nurse she met her husband Pedro Mora who was her boss in the medical clinic in the factory where they worked. They had a very special relationship that lasted over 55 years until Pedro's death in 1995, to this union were born 16 children, 11 living to adulthood.
She and Pedro were converts to the LDS church. Missionaries knocked on their door in 1959 and Maria said she knew immediately that their message was true. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1961. They sent 8 of their children on full-time missions for the church, all of their 11 children were sealed to their spouses in LDS temples. She and Pedro also served for 3 years in the Mexico City Temple, after Pedro's death she moved to Logan, Utah and has lived here since.
