Marie Larsen Elwood peacefully rejoined her parents and siblings (James Larsen, Marlin Larsen and Velma Speth) on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
Born on September 9, 1931 in Wellsville, Utah, she was the fourth child of James and Luella Larsen.
Marie graduated from South Cache High School, retired from Cache Valley Dairy/Schriber Foods.
She loved to travel and socialize with old and new friends. She loved going to Senior Citizens in Smithfield and Hyrum and riding the bus to Wendover to play the penny slots and eat at the buffets with her friends.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After taking care of herself for so many years, her family finally talked her into moving to Williamsburg. She, and her cat, Pretty Girl, enjoyed being pampered by the staff, and we thank them for making her last years so happy. We are also extremely grateful to Altas Hospice.
Marie was lovingly known to her family as Melwood. She will be so greatly missed for her sassy attitude, her sense of humor and her love of the Utah Jazz.
She is survived by her children: Jeri Maughan (Riverdale, UT) Tina (Dennis) Nielsen (Nibley, UT) and Alan (Anita) Elwood (Twin Falls, ID).
Her granddaughters: Holly Maughan (Stephen City, VA), Shelley Maughan (Linden, VA), Lisa (Shawn) Stewart (Aldie, VA) and Trisha Hunsaker (Nibley, UT).
Also left behind are her greats: Tyler Maughan, Brooklynn Monson, TJ Mecouch , Emma Stewart, Isaac Stewart, Elijah Stewart, Cash Hunsaker and Dacen Hunsaker.
A family graveside service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022.
