Marie Gunnell, 89 was born March 2, 1918 in Wellsville, Utah. A Daughter of Ora K. and Carrie Larsen Smith. She married Alton Mitton Gunnell in the Logan L.D.S. Temple on Jan 15, 1936, they enjoyed 67 years together. She lived on the same street in Wellsville all her life. She was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the Relief Society, Sunday school, and Primary and was the Chairman of the Quilt Committee. She was a member of the choir for 50 years. For many years she and her sister Edith sang duets at funerals, church meetings and social gatherings. She enjoyed being a member of the Daniel H. Wells Camp, of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a member of the Sevilla Club for 60 years and cherished her many friendships. Many members were her life long friends.
Marie enjoyed her life as a homemaker: her talents included cooking, gardening, canning, crocheting, knitting, piecing quilts and quilting. Marie was an experienced wallpaper hanger and she worked in many homes around the valley. For five years Marie worked at Thiokol Chemical Corp. She also worked at Alts Market in Wellsville. She greatly enjoyed working outdoors, nurturing her beautiful roses and flowers. She and Alt were known for their beautiful yard.
She is survived by LaDaun (Arlyn) Brenchley and Lynn (Karin) Gunnell of Wellsville, Oralee (Louis) Frank of Providence, and Marilyn (Fred) Dahle of Amarillo, Texas, 14 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 2 g-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Louis & George and sisters Margaret, Donna and Edith.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 11, 12:00 noon, at the Wellsville 4th ward chapel, 195 South Center. A viewing will be Friday August 10, at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 6 to 8 P M and at the church on Saturday from10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Wellsville Cemetery
