Marilyn Larsen Camp
July 11, 1930-February 5, 2014
Marilyn finished her earthly journey on February 5th, 2014 at her home in Weirsdale, Florida with her daughters Denene and Leslie by her side.
Marilyn Larsen Camp was born July 11th, 1930 in Logan, Utah to Noah Legrand and Eva Morse Larsen. She was educated in Utah schools and lived until her late teen years in the Logan and Brigham City areas. She then moved to California with her mother and step-father Joseph Andersen, whom she was extremely close to.
She met William Peter Camp, a young man from Malad, Idaho in Lomita, CA, and they were married September 23rd, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV. “Pete” was a career Naval officer and Marilyn followed him around the country with their growing family, always the supportive Navy wife, mother and homemaker with a deep love of family, friends and cats. She lived on both coasts of the United States and several places in between while Pete served. When he retired they decided to settle in Las Vegas and they remained there for many years while Pete worked as a carpenter with his brother-in-law. After the last of the children left home and Pete retired once again, they sold the home in Las Vegas, bought a fifth wheel trailer and traveled the United States for about seven years before building a home in Smithfield, next door to her cousin Joan (whom she dearly loved) in 1996. She was devastated when Pete passed away on March 25th, 2007. Five years ago, she sold her home and moved to Florida to be near her daughter and family.
She loved to travel, to visit family and friends, soap operas, playing games, shopping, especially for jewelry and anything with cats on it. She was known for her incredible sense of humor and infectious laugh. No one could resist joining in when she was around!
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her three daughters and two sons Leslie Drew of Carmel Valley, CA, Annette Camp of Santa Margarita, CA, Joseph Camp of Gorda, CA, Denene (Paul) Moats of Weirsdale, FL and Douglas Camp of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and her much loved sister Donna (Larry) Hatfield of Wilmington, CA. Also surviving are Pete’s sisters Larue (Ray) Jones and Melba Hedstrom and her step- siblings Melba Squire and Ted Anderson as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Richard King, sister Alice Joyce Larsen, step-siblings Earl and Gilbert Anderson and Ruby Hilt.
