Marilyn Stauffer Howard

May 7, 1939 — April 26, 2017

Marilyn Stauffer Howard passed away in her sleep at Rocky Mountain Care on April 26th, 2017. She was 77. Marilyn was the oldest of seven children for Clifford J and Claris A. Stauffer of Hyrum Utah.
Marilyn was born on May 7th, 1939.

Marilyn, or Myla as she was called by her family, grew up in Hyrum and attended South Cache High School. After high school, she attended Utah State University where she met her husband, Dean Howard. They married soon after in 1959. They settled in Hyrum where they began to raise their family. Marilyn had three children Dirk, Kim and Kaye. Kim preceded her mother in death.

Marilyn worked for Cache County as Deputy Auditor. There she met many of the employees of Cache County and the Cache County Sheriff's office.

Marilyn was the anchor for her family, both her husband, children and her brothers and sisters. She worked hard to put two of her children through college. She also was the person her brothers and sisters would turn to for help.

She and her husband served a Spanish speaking mission for the LDS Church in the Morristown, New Jersey mission. Near the end of her mission she fell down a flight of stairs and was severely injured. She required six weeks of rehab before she was allowed to travel home to Utah. Once home she was able to continue to heal and get back on her feet.

One of Marilyn's greatest joys is her family. She is mother to three, grandmother of seven and great grandmother of seven. For her and her husband's 50th wedding anniversary, the entire family traveled to Hawaii to help them celebrate. Marilyn was always happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dean Howard, her son Dirk Howard (Tina) and her daughter Kaye Freeman.

Funeral services will be held at the Hyrum North Stake on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11 am. There will be a viewing from 9:30 - 11 am.

She will be buried in the Hyrum City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr Russell Hirst and the staff at Rocky Mountain Care for the kind and loving care they provided Marilyn during her final days. Funeral arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary.
