Marion Wight Demler

March 28, 1923 — December 31, 2015

Marion Demler, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday December 31, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
Marion was born in Brigham City, Utah, to Eldred Lorenzo and Athalia Wight on March 26, 1923. Due to the Depression, they moved around to where her father could find work. They moved from Brigham City Utah to Jerome, Twin Falls and Hazelton Idaho.
Marion’s family moved to Logan when she was 15. She made lifelong friends while in Logan and graduated from Logan High School in 1941.

After graduation, she worked at F.W. Woolworth, where she met Clyde Demler. In July 1942, they were married in the Logan Utah Temple.
They lived in Logan until Clyde went into the Army Air Corps in WWII. She then moved to Ogden to live with her parents and worked for the Clearfield Naval Base. She learned to hang wall paper by helping her Dad.

After the war Clyde and Marion moved to Providence, Utah as lifelong residents.
While raising a family, she graduated from beauty school, worked as a Providence reporter for the Cache Citizen, and as a Providence city treasurer for twenty years.

She enjoyed writing poetry for many people as well as herself. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and embroidering, and has compiled many family picture albums. She was active in a square dance club, the LaDessa Club (for 64 yrs) and a Best Friends Club. She also sang in a trio with friends Carol Davis and Connie Hammond, accompanied by Gayle Pickett.

She was very active in the LDS Church holding many positions including RS President, Mutual President Primary President, Visiting Teacher and writing to each missionary from the ward for over 50 years.
She served 2 full time missions to Australia and England.

She is survived by her 6 children, Clyde (Shirley) Wellsville, Chad (Brenda) Providence, Loralee (Wayne) Peterson, Poulsbo, Washington, Melanie (McKay) Brown, Logan, Quinn, Tooele, and Drew (Tammy) Nibley.
She was a loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Viewing will be on Tuesday January 5, 2016 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 East Center Street in Logan from 6 to 8 pm.
Funeral Services will be held at noon, Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the LDS Chapel on 464 North 300 East in Providence, Utah. Viewing preceding services from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Providence Cemetery.
