Marion Lewis Stauffer

November 16, 1913 — June 10, 2006

Marion L. Stauffer died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, June 10, from natural causes.
He was born in Providence, Utah to Godfrey and Friedriche Leonhardt Stauffer on November 16, 1913. He was sixth of eight children.

He grew up in Providence working with his brothers and sisters on their dairy farm. He attended the Cache County Schools. He was an excellent baseball player and earned the nickname “Babe”.

He met Mae Martha Nielson of River Heights in high school. They were married in Brigham City on November 16, 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Their birthdays were both on November 16th and they got married on this day. They had 68 wonderful years together before Mae died on November 15, 2002.

Marion was a devoted husband and father. He always put family first. He was a good neighbor who looked after the widows who lived near him. He gave many hours of donated work as a brick mason on churches and to relatives and friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a High Priest in the Logan 7th Ward.

Marion learned the brick trade and worked for his brothers-in-law, Lavon Nielson. Later he worked for his nephew Tom Nielson. Marion received the Governor’s Craftman Award from Governor Scott Matheson as an outstanding craftsman for his skill in all phases of masonry.

Marion is survived by one sister Roma (Harold) Phillips of Montpelier, Idaho. Two daughters - Donna (Rod) Crosby of Logan, Arlene Ricks of Perry, and two sons Ivan (Arlene) Stauffer of Hyrum and Mike (Julie) Stauffer of St. George, 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mae, four brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, June 15 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center St, Logan. Friends may call from 11 AM to 12:15 PM prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be extended to the family by going to www.allenmortuaries.net .
