Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Marjorie Ida Quinney Bowen, passed away Friday June 5, 2009 at the Sunshine Terrace surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 23, 1916 to Claudius and Vella Quinney. She married her lifetime companion Jonathan “Jack” Raymond Bowen on December 16, 1933. Their marriage was later solemized in the Logan LDS Temple on March 17, 1966. Her husband Jack passed away on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004.
In the prime of her life, she loved to entertain friends and relatives and was known to be a talented and gracious hostess. She was an avid bridge player and possessed a natural talent for music. She loved playing the organ “by ear” with friends and family singing along. She was a talented artist and not only painted pictures, but also painted clothing with her artistic touch. She loved to dance and spent many good times square dancing with her husband, Jack. She was very fortunate to have traveled extensively during her lifetime.
She loved to work in her yard and spent many hours grooming her beautiful flower gardens. She was a member of the Logan Literary Club and the 24th ward Relief Society.
She spent the last ten years of her life with limited verbal communication skills. She had her special way of communicating by looking at you with her eyes open wide, placing her hand on your arm and
with her facial expressions you felt some understanding.
The greatest joy of her life has been her family. The daily visits from her son, David and frequent visits from all her family during her last years to the Sunshine Terrace and Legacy House demonstrates their love for her. You could certainly see the huge smile on her face when her grandchildren and great-granchildren came to see her. Marjorie is survived by her two daughters and one son, Kathryn Jean Williams of New Canaan, Conn., Jonathan David (LaRae) Bowen of Logan, Jacqueline (Bruce) Shields of Strongsville, Oh.; eight grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claudius and Vella Quinney; one sister Kathryn Quinney and a great-grandson Robert Beau Bowen.
A very special thanks to the staffs of Legacy House and the Sunshine Terrace. Also thanks to Dr. Steven Salisibury and the Logan Hospital. A very special thanks to the Allen-Hall Mortuary for their outstanding services and personal touch with all the details.
