Mark Archibald Cooper, 85, Hyrum, Utah passed away from pancreatic cancer at Logan Regional Hospital on Monday, April 16, 2007.
Mark A. Cooper devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was born March 4, 1922 in Mt. Sterling, Utah to Levi P. and Maggie Archibald Cooper. He married Donna Larson on April 18, 1947 and they were sealed later in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was an avid golfer, loved to fly fish and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He was an excellent softball fast-pitch pitcher and pitched for his US Army Aircorp team while in the service of his country. He was a veteran of WWII. He joined the Army on 28, Oct. 1942. He was stationed with the 593rd Army Aircorp as an airplane mechanic. He was honorably discharged 16 February, 1946.
He worked for the Defense Depot of Ogden for 37 years, retiring in 1977. He then worked part-time for the LDS seminary as a custodian for several years. Many of his grandchildren loved working with him at the seminary. He finally retired to work in his yard, where he loved his flowers, gardening and mowing lawns.
He was an active member of the Hyrum 5th ward and served in many callings including counselor to several bishops. He was a dedicated servant and served whenever he was called.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 60 years, Donna. Children: Deaun Lape', Denis M. (Sherleen) Cooper, Ralph L. Cooper of Hyrum, and two foster sons Cecil (Yvonne) Curley of Orem, Ut, Monty Curley, 14 grandchildren, (4 grandsons and 10 granddaughters) and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Donna (Dee) Stoddard, Wellsville Ut., 1 sister-in-law Zora Larson, Nibley, Ut., and 1 brother-in-law Chuck Christelli, Ogden, Ut ..
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Alton Cooper, and five sisters: Ruby Nielsen, Margaret Hansford, Violet Bowen, Eva Christelli and Laurine Petersen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday April 20 at the Hyrum 5th Ward Chapel, 190 West Main St in Hyrum. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to services at the church on Friday.
