Martha Mathys, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on June 3, 2014.
She was born in Selsach, Switzerland on December 15, 1917 to Friederich and Lena Reist Dubach. She married Paul Mathys on March 8, 1940. Paul and Martha immigrated to the United States in May 1952 with their two children.
Martha was very ambitious. She spent many happy hours working in her beloved garden. She also loved to cook and was an established chef, famous for her ability to prepare delicious meals for large family gatherings. She loved to knit and crochet and made many blankets and baby clothes. She especially enjoyed doing needlepoint and has many pictures and chairs that she is very proud of.
She is survived by her son, Heinz (Robina) Mathys, and daughter, Sylvia (Bill) Jensen, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents and 5 brothers and 8 sisters.
At her request, there will be no formal funeral. Friends may pay their respects to the family from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. Graveside services will begin at 12:30 PM in the Millville Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cache Valley Humane Society, Four Paws or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to give special thanks to the CNS hospice team; especially Amanda, Christine and Julie for the love and tender care they gave Mom.
