Marva Lou Jenkins Niederhauser passed away peacefully on May 17, 2015 at the age of 86. She was born July 26, 1928 in Heber City, Utah to Junius P. and Sylvia Murdock Jenkins. She has five brothers, Floyd (Helen) Jenkins, Joe (Belva) Jenkins, Lars (Zina) Jenkins, Don Jenkins, and Terry (Irene) Jenkins, one sister, Deon(Gene) Coray and a special brother-in-law, Reed Averett. She attended school in Heber City, graduating from Wasatch High in 1946. She attended Utah State College and worked as a secretary for President Madsen.
Marva Lou worked as a telephone operator when the operators asked for “Number please”. She served an LDS mission in northern California where she served with Ida Newbrand. Ida introduced Marva Lou to her nephew, Charles Niederhauser. They fell in love and were married in the Logan temple on May 8, 1954.
Before her marriage she was a secretary to President David O. McKay. She loved that job and shared experiences with her family. She was an excellent accountant. She worked for Dahles Toyota and later for Valley Engineering as an accountant. She also worked many years for H&R Block doing income taxes.
Marva Lou was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faithfully serving in many callings. She and Charles served three missions together.
Marva Lou was very talented in needlework. She made quilts for each of her children and crocheted or knitted an afghan for each of her grandchildren.
Charles and Marva Lou have seven children; Sylvia (Kim) Olson, Jay (Peggy) Niederhauser, LuIda (Courtney Lynn) Sorenson, Alan (Rebecca) Niederhauser, Nancy (Rick) Bodrero, Chris (Ronda) Niederhauser, and Charla (Erick) Johnston. Charla and Chris preceded her in death. They have 29 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Marva Lou loved and enjoyed being with her family. She was the genealogist and the keeper of the family records for the Niederhauser family for many years.
We as her family would like to thank the members of the Providence 3rd Ward for their love and concern. We would aiso like to thank the nurses and staff of Stonehenge Rehab Center for their kind and gentle care of our mother in her last days.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 3015, in the LDS church, 309 S. Main St. in Providence. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 E. Center St. in Logan and on Saturday prior to services at the church from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial service will be Tuesday, May 26 at 1:00p.m. in the Providence City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
