Mary Helen Kwiek

On Mother's Day, Mary Kwiek, 97, peacefully passed into eternal life with family at her side. Known to many as Aunt Mary, this dear angel warmed the hearts and hands of everyone she met. As a devout, lifelong Catholic, her faith permeated every aspect of her life, touching countless lives. Mary was born and raised in Chicago, IL. When Mary was quite young, both her birth parents died. Subsequently, the Czeslaw and Veronica Przydryga family was blessed to have Mary join their family, including their four children – Jesse, Theodore, Celia and Lucia. As a young woman, Mary worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell. During World War II, Mary was sent to San Francisco with a group of operators to support the war effort.
Mary's arms were always outstretched to encompass anyone who needed a cheerful smile, a comforting word or even a good verbal kick in the pants when needed. Although Mary never married or had children of her own, she took on the role of favorite aunt and loving friend to all. Mary had six nieces and nephews: Carlotta Murphy, Hillary Vincent, Adrienne Akers, Camille Walked, Mark Lukaszewski and Paul Leonard. When they were growing up, Mary frequently served as baby-sitter and always spoiled them rotten. Then along came the grand nieces and nephews who also benefitted from her lovingkindness. They include Brooke Roothaan, Reed Murphy, Whitney Murphy, Cortland Murphy (deceased), Barclay Murphy, Ibtisam Vincent, Ramzi Vincent, Celia Peterson, Ian Peterson, Renee Walker and Aaron Walker. They all enjoyed Aunt Mary's antics and generosity. In reality, she was basically a kid at heart.
In 1990 after Mary retired, she moved to Logan to be near her niece Adrienne and her family. Having lived in the city all her life, Mary fell in love with the mountains, national parks and beauty of Utah. Mary became a valued member and tireless volunteer of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Logan as well as other community organizations. For the remainder of her life, Mary continued to stay in touch with friends and family all over the U.S. Mary's life serves as a model for a life truly well lived.

A viewing will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 6-8 p.m at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center St., Logan, UT. A second viewing will be on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 10:30-11:30 a.m prior to a 12p.m. funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 725 S 250 E, Hyde Park, UT.
