Mary Schaelling Irwin, 32, passed away on May 1, 2016. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on December 12, 1983 to Philip Schaelling and Diane Kowallis Fifield. She later moved to Texas and then onto Utah.
Mary graduated from Mountain Crest High School in 2002. Mary lived and breathed soccer, she was the revered goalie that led Mountain Crest to the semifinals of the state playoffs in 2001. Later Mary went onto earn her RN degree and worked in the ER at Logan Regional Hospital for 10 years. Mary married Layne Popa in August 2013. Her most recent academic achievements were earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees in finance and accounting. Mary spent her free time camping, hiking, backpacking, water skiing, and snowboarding. Mary's passion and the love of her life was her son, Kyler Clark.
She is survived by her son Kyler Clark, her parents Philip Schaelling and Diane Kowallis Fifield, her siblings John Mark Schaelling, James Philip Schaelling (Lita), Joseph Abrams Schaelling (Gillian), Steven Warren Schaelling (Marianne) and Sarah Lynne John (Jeff).
Her memorial will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 7th 2016 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan, Utah. Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to record memories at
