Mary Jean Muir
Jean Nielsen Muir, 71, of Hyrum, UT passed away March 4, 2006 at LDS Hospital due to complications from heart surgery.
Jean was born September 7, 1934 in Hyrum, UT to Morris & LaVeda Nielsen. She was the youngest of 10 children.
She grew up & attended school in cache county. She met & married the one true love of her life, Don Muir from Mendon. They had 2 children (Michael & Marsha) before moving to California in 1953. Don’s brother, Clark & Jean’s sister, Joan who were married and had children of their own all moved out west together. It made for a very close family bond.
When Jean was in the hospital with polio she gave birth to her third child (Marilyn). Then was soon followed by the baby of the family (Robin). Jean work numerous jobs in California but her main focus was her children.
The family moved back to UT in 1972, where Jean started working for Moore BCS. Once she retired from there, she had the benefit of spending more time with her grandchildren & gardening. But come fall it was all about Mom & Dad, first going fishing in Alaska then going to Las Vegas to the National Rodeo Finals which was their passion.
Jean is survived by her husband Don Muir of Hyrum, her daughters Marsha Muir of Las Vegas, NV, Marilyn (Joe) Jolicoeur of Avon, UT & stepdaughter LaDawna (DelRa) Talbot of Preston, ID. Daughter in-law Jody Muir of Hyrum, UT & son in-law Fred Smith of Smithfield, UT. 14 grandchildren & 11 great children, and many nieces and nephews. Brothers, Jack (Sybil) Nielsen & Darrell (Barbara) Nielsen. Sisters, Marge & (Ramon) Purser & Joan Muir. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Muir & daughter Robin Muir. Parents Morris & LaVeda Nielsen. Sisters Claris Jensen, Carol Larsen, brothers, Edward Nielsen, Gerard Nielsen & Lennis Nielsen.
Funeral service will be conducted at 12 Noon at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. There will be a viewing held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
