Mary Smith Bailey Hill, age 101 of Wellsville, passed away on December 16, 2008 in Brigham City, UT, while surrounded by her children.
She was born on May 4, 1907 in Wellsville, UT, the 5th of 12 children, to William Adamson and Mary Kilfoyle Smith Bailey. She was raised in Wellsville and attended school there. She married Elmer Dellas Poppleton Hill on November 18, 1925, in Logan, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Mary enjoyed cooking and making candy from the time she was a young girl. She cooked in several of the restaurants in Cache Valley and catered weddings and parties throughout the area. Being a member of the LDS church, she enjoyed singing in the Wellsville 2nd Ward Choir and also in the Singing Mothers.
She is survived by her three daughters Evadeane (Dee) Mitton of Brigham City; Thora (Dean) Richards of Brigham City; Ramona Thompson of Barstow, CA; her daughter-in-law Geraldean (Dellas, deceased) Hill of Wellsville; and her sister Doris Sorteberg of Smithfield. She is also survived by her 24 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, 56 great-great grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren, and numerous step grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her sons Rex and Dellas Hill, 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, UT. Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Friday, December 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday, December 20, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Wellsville Cemetery.
