Mary Stone Britzell

August 15, 1918 — December 7, 2006

Mary Stone Britzell, 88, returned home to her Heavenly Father on December 7, 2006 after a 2 year battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by her loving family members.
She was born on August 15, 1918 in Logan, Utah, a daughter of David Lehi and Sara Emma Crowther Stone. She married Don O. Britzell on October 1, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Don passed away on May 28, 1997.
She lived in Daniels and Malad, Idaho, and Logan and Layton, Utah. She attended Malad and Logan High where she was a member of the girls basketball team playing the position of jumping center. She graduated from Logan High.
While her husband Don served in the US Armed Forces during World War II, Mary worked as a nurse to the wounded serviceman at the Bushnell Hospital in Brigham City. She also worked several years for the Bluebird Café.
Mary was a faithful member of the LDS Church where she served as a stake missionary, primary counselor and president. She also had shared her musical talents with many different organizations in the church. For many years she brought much joy and happiness to the people at Sunshine Terrace with her music and wonderful smile.
She always enjoyed having a beautiful flower garden and a large vegetable garden which she shared with others. She also did a lot of canning. However, she was most loved for her delicious rolls she made for her many family dinners.
She is survived by her two daughters: Marilyn (Lon) Bailey of Roy and Janice Yeager of Fruit Heights; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren with two on the way; one sister, Ila Anderson of Logan; and one brother, Howard Stone of Ontario, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband and many sisters and brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to services from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Apple Village and Hospice Lifepath for their hours of tender loving care.
