Our sweet angel mother Pearl Maureen Lauritzen Willmore passed from this life to join her husband, parents and siblings on February 18th, 2024 in Logan, Utah. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the time of her passing. She was adored by her family and friends and will be missed by all who were blessed to know and be loved by her.
Maueen was the daughter of Andrew Elmer Lauritzen and Elizabeth Marie Margarete Jacobsen Lauritzen. She was born Oct 10, 1933 in Moroni, Utah, and the youngest of 8 children. She loved her sisters and brothers and all of her nieces and nephews very much. Family was everything to Maureen and she found so much joy in taking care of her parents, and she was diligent in staying in contact with extended family around the world.
Maureen was very proud to be a long time resident of Hyrum. As a young girl she and her parents lived in Los Angeles and Richmond, CA, Dyer, NV, and then settled in Hyrum, UT. She graduated in 1951 from South Cache High School and moved back to Southern California to help her brother and sister-in-law care for their new baby. She returned to Hyrum, UT when her father was sick and she worked as an operator for the telephone company.
She married Curg Peterson in 1953. Later divorced. She married the love of her life and eternal companion, Blaine H. Willmore in 1965. Maureen was active in her community and had many friends. She was a member of the Hyrum Lady Lions Club, Red Hat Society, and worked at Everton’s Hardware and Roskelley’s Dress Shop.
Maureen enjoyed golfing with Blaine, playing games especially Pinochle, gardening, canning, and sewing. Her family loved her chocolate chip cookies and she always made sure to have fresh cookies when family and friends came to visit. She doted on her family and always put her children and grandchildren's needs before her own. She taught each of us the true meaning of Christ-like love. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society. She was also an Ordinance Worker in the Logan, UT Temple for many years, which brought her great joy.
She and Blaine had 5 children: Stephen (Denise) Willmore, Marilyn Taylor, Nancy (Lee) Vance, Lisa (Brent) Wallin, and Michael (Christine) Willmore. She was blessed to be a grandmother to Terry Willmore, Eric Willmore, Amber McMillan, James Vance, Judd Vance, Janet Vance, Marissa Davis, Matthew Wallin, Joseph Willmore, Marc Wallin, Andrew Willmore, Mason Wallin, Mikell Henrie, and Topher Willmore. She has 24 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, parents, siblings, 2 grandsons and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Mom, we love you and will strive to honor you until we all meet again!
