PROVIDENCE, UTAH - Maxine Kohler 82, our caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Logan Regional Hospital.
She was born on June 9, 1928 the oldest of nine children to William and Verda Duke in Victor Idaho, and it was here in the beautiful Teton valley she was raised, educated, and met her husband.
She married Budd Kohler on October 30, 1946 in the Idaho Falls Temple. After their marriage they lived in Victor and later moved to Providence Utah where they have lived for the last 65 years.
Maxine spent the early years of their marriage working at home with their young family, and later was employed at Gossner’s Cheese as a lab technician for 25 years where she made many lasting friendships. Maxine was a beautiful seamstress and loved to crochet. She made many baby blankets, afghans, dolls, and doilies that are cherished by family members and friends. She was an excellent cook and had a talent for creating her own delicious recipes.
She was an avid reader who loved word searches and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling with her sisters to many places across the country, but most of all spending time with family and seeing her great-grandchildren.
Maxine is survived by her husband Budd, her children, Dewayne Kohler, Dennis (Janet) Kohler, Connie (David) Anderson, LeAnn (Dee) Ashcroft, Tim (Amy) Kohler, and siblings, Afton Blanchard, Bonnie Burton, Doris (Paul) Maxfield, Lavon (Russel) Hansen, Carol (Eldon) Dalley, Cal (Joleen) Duke, Hile (Betty) Duke, and Don (Sondra) Duke, 18 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon at the Providence 3rd Ward Chapel, 309 South Main St in Providence. A viewing will be held Friday, August 20, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St in Logan and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the church prior to services.
