Max William "Bill" Burr

April 8, 1925 — January 2, 2011

Max William (Bill) Burr, 85, passed away at the Logan Rehab Center on Jan 2, 2011 from complications related to a fall.
Bill was born on April 8, 1925, in Logan, Ut, to Max and Cora Poppleton Olefson Burr. He was the fifth of seven children: Gladys Strong (deceased), Dorothy Adams (deceased), Fallas Olefson (deceased), Harold Olefson (deceased), Burzell Andersen (deceased) and Joann Moser (North Salt Lake).
Bill attended Logan City schools, including Utah State University. Prior to his high school graduation, Bill enlisted to serve in the United States Army. From 1944 to 1945, Bill was engaged in combat in the Burma jungles. He received an honorable discharge on Jan. 11, 1946.
On June 26, 1946, Bill married the love of his life, Betty Louise Anderson. They were married in Nibley and later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. In June of 2010, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They have resided in the home they build in Nibley for the past 55 years.
Bill and Betty have four sons: Bruce (deceased) (Lana Burr) Nibley; Brad (LaNette), Providence; Brent (Lorrie), Nibley; and .Bart (Tammie), Smithfield. Bill and Betty also have 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Bill was an active member of the LDS Church and has served his religion in many capacities. He proudly worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and for the past ten years has help to maintain the Millville-Nibley Cemetery. He and Betty have also been delivering "Meals On Wheels" to the elderly for the last 10 years.
Bill took great pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his great-grandchildren. Even the smallest among them knew that Grandpa was a jokester with a ready smile, loads of patience, and a helping hand.
Besides spending time with his family, Bill enjoyed joking around, camping, fishing, and being a "True Aggie" fan.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in the Nibley 6th Ward Chapel (710 West 3480 South). A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, January 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and prior to the services on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Millville-Nibley City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
