Melburn Kay Mathews, 88, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, in Logan Utah.
“Kay” was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Antimony, Utah, the 8th of 11 children born to Benjamin Lynn and Esther Black Mathews. He served in the Northern States Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as well as the US Army. Kay spent his career working at Utah State University.
He is survived by his son, Stephen K. (Barbara) Mathews of Smithfield, Utah, and two daughters, Joylee (Stanley) Tudor of Seaton, South Australia, and Ruthann Mathews of Logan, Utah. Also surviving Kay is a grandson, Kurt Tudor, and a brother, Dasil G. Mathews.
Kay was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Petersen Mathews, his parents, 5 brothers: Gerald, Alton, Wendell, Paul, and Stanford, and 4 sisters: Naomi, Celia, LaRae, and Pauline.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, in the Providence Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9:30 – 10:30 am Tuesday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, Utah.
