On March 20th, 2023 the world lost a wonderful woman, Melissa Phillips McKnight, to a six year battle with cancer.
Melissa was a very loved wife to Brennon McKnight, parents Terri Jensen (McKnight) and Kent McKnight (whom proceeded her in death), from Cornish, UT and mother of two beautiful daughters, Shaylee and Kyleigh, who will miss her very much. Melissa was the daughter of Joe and Karen Phillips of Smithfield, UT who raised a very strong, smart, caring, and beautiful woman whos compassion for others over herself had no limits. Her brothers, Brian and Kevan, along with sisters, Jenni and Kristi, would agree that her caring nature was endless and most likely why Melissa worked in healthcare for over 25 years. She truly enjoyed making others happy and touched many lives on her journey through life, bringing joy and happiness to all those she encountered through both work and home.
Melissa’s time here was spent enjoying time with family and friends whenever possible, watching the sun both rise and set, taking trips to find a beach to walk on, and occasionally pretending to like being a caddy to her husband on the golf course.
Melissa will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and will be welcomed on the other side by loving grandparents, uncles, nephew, and in-laws.
Graveside services will be on Friday, March 24th at 2 p.m. at the Cornish City Cemetery, 13400, N 5800 W, Cornish, UT 84308. An open house visitation will be held prior to the graveside service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main St. in Smithfield.
