Melvin Jay Bayliff passed away Sept. 22, 2014 at the Sunshine Terrace, Wing 1, who we are thankful for their kind help, support, and love. We are also thankful to the Logan Regional Hospital staff and CNS Care takers, Julie and Christine.
Melvin was born in Eden, Idaho to his parents Albert and Althea Briggs Bayliff, on June 27, 1929. He was the 6th of 7 siblings; Albert, Darwin, Ethan, and Afton Anderson (All now deceased) and Jeneviev Hanson (California) and Elmoin Bayliff (Ogden) living.
He lived his childhood in Rexburg, Idaho. Mel enjoyed the outdoors. He helped carry his father on his back because his father was wounded in the war and couldn’t walk. He was married to Betty Ann Naylor 60 years ago at the Logan LDS Temple on June 4, 1954. She is the love of his life.
Mel always asked people if they were being good. He enjoyed fishing with his friends Ed Rutherford and Clark Page. He had a challenge of being deaf his whole life, yet everyone liked Melvin where he lived, the last place at Carl Inoway. They will all miss him.
He was kind and loving to his children, Garry Bayliff (Ogden), Sherri Burgess (Ogden), and Kenneth Bayliff (Florence, Oregon). He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, Chelsea Bayliff (Salt Lake City), and Christopher Burgess (Ogden). Also he is survived by his loved in-laws, Fred and Barbara Cooper (Harrisville), Jeremy and MaRee Smith (Providence), Ralph and Mary Naylor (Clinton), and Terry and Wendi Naylor (Providence).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 29 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed online at
