Melvin Standley Swenson

May 15, 1921 — February 27, 2009

Melvin Standley Swenson, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family, peacefully returned to the presence of his Father –In-Heaven on February 27, 2009 at the age of 87. He was born May 15, 1921 to David and Lelia Swenson. He was a farmer in his youth and served his country in the 3rd BN 107th Infantry in World War 11. He worked as an auto mechanic most of his life and enjoyed his work. He dedicated 30 years to the Scouting Program, and received the Silver Beaver award. His life has always included gospel teachings and he always taught by example.
In his younger days he enjoyed fishing, camping, singing in a quartet and life in general. His life was dedicated to helping his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and anyone else that he could serve.
He married Esther Scott on March 24, 1945. They are the parents of seven children, Toni (Guy) Withers, West Jordan, Utah; Pam (Bill) Reeder , Cardston, Alberta; Sue Owens, San Antonio, Texas; Ann Nelson, Clinton, Utah; Janice Johnson, Logan, Utah; Scott Swenson, Las Vegas, Nevada; Kim Kresie, (Shon) Providence, Utah. They have 34 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren , and the legacy is continuing.
Melvin is survived by his brother David Swenson (Elna) of Sandy, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents , two brothers, 4 sisters and 2 granddaughters.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at the Logan Nursing and Care Center, to the Access staff and to dad’s Hospice nurse Diane Crockett.
Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, March 4th at 12:00 Noon at the Logan 29th Ward Chapel (5th East and 8th North). Friends may call Tuesday Evening between 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary – 34 East Center Street – Logan, Utah and at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment at the Millville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers – send donations to Boy Scouts of America or Primary Children’s Hospital.
